At MPS we are excited to welcome additional Pre-K classrooms at Carver, Catoma, Crump and Nixon Elementary schools for the 2023-2024 school year!

Acceptance into a First Class Pre-K program is through random selection. Students enrolling for new classrooms this summer will be notified beginning July 24, 2023. Notification of acceptance status will be sent via email.
Mission
Montgomery Public Schools’ First Class Pre-K Program is committed to providing a safe and caring, developmentally appropriate environment for preschool children. Our goal is to provide high-quality educational experiences which promote the maximum development of each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive abilities.
Purpose
To provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate activities that increase school readiness in a safe and nurturing environment.
Vision
To foster a partnership with families and the community that enhances the abilities and skills of the whole child in becoming a lifelong learner.
Belief
High-quality Pre-K experiences provide children with the foundation for ongoing learning, and support children and families to become responsible citizens as they develop lifelong skills.
Goals
Goals of high-quality Pre-K experiences include: enhancing skills in personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social-emotional development, technology skills, creative arts, and physical development; and developing a professional learning community that includes parents, teachers, principals, MPS departments, and community organizations. Through strong partnerships with Federal Programs, the Offices of School Readiness, Head Start, and the Family Guidance Center, Montgomery Public Schools offers a dynamic, high-quality Pre-K experience that increases children's school readiness.

Program Acceptance
Acceptance and Waiting List emails will be sent to parents on July 24, 2023. Parents should respond to the acceptance email by July 28, 2023, to complete registration.
Children who are not immediately selected will remain in the applicant pool until space becomes available. We will continue to accept applications after the deadline. Children will be selected from the Waiting List if a space becomes available in a class.

Items Required for Registration
A copy of your child's birth certificate; two (2) proofs of residence, for example, a current utility bill (water, gas, or electric) and/or a copy of a lease or mortgage; a copy of your state-issued ID; and your child's updated Immunization Record. A Social Security Card is optional; however, it can help complete the registration process.

Program Hours
7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ALL students must be picked up by 2:45 p.m.
TRANSPORTATION FOR PRE-K IS NOT PROVIDED BY THE MPS SCHOOL SYSTEM.
