Pre-K

  • Pre-K registration for the 2023-2024 school year will begin January 15th and last until March 10th 2023.  

    Acceptance into a First Class Pre-K program is strictly through random drawing.  MPS' Pre-K random drawing will take place on March 14, 2023 at 12:20 p.m. in the Central Office Auditorium located at 307 S. Decatur Street.  Parents / guardians do not have to be present at the drawing.  Notification of acceptance status will be sent via email.

    Montgomery Public Schools’ First Class Pre-K Program is committed to providing a safe and caring, developmentally appropriate environment for preschool children. Our goal is to provide high-quality educational experiences which promote the maximum development of each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive abilities.

    To provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate activities that increase school readiness in a safe and nurturing environment.

    To foster a partnership with families and the community that enhances the abilities and skills of the whole child in becoming a lifelong learner.

    High-quality Pre-K experiences provide children with the foundation for ongoing learning, and support children and families to become responsible citizens as they develop lifelong skills.

    Goals 

    Goals of high-quality Pre-K experiences include: enhancing skills in personal and social development, language and literacy, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social-emotional development, technology skills, creative arts, and physical development; and developing a professional learning community that includes parents, teachers, principals, MPS departments, and community organizations.
    Through strong partnerships with Federal Programs, the Offices of School Readiness, Head Start, and the Family Guidance Center, Montgomery Public Schools offers a dynamic, high-quality Pre-K experience that increases children's school readiness. High-quality Pre-K experiences enhance a child's personal and social development, language and literacy skills, mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, social-emotional development, technology skills, creative arts, and physical development.
