Welcome to Wilson Elementary School ~ Home of the Ranger Pride, Where Rangers LEAD!

I am a product of Montgomery Public Schools. As a child, I attended Dannelly Elementary School, Baldwin Magnet Junior High, and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1995. After graduating from high school, I began attending Auburn University at Montgomery pursuing a degree in Special Education (Collaborative Teacher K-6). My mother taught Special Education for 35+ years in Alabama public schools. My father was in Administration in the area of Special Education in Alabama for 30+ years and retired in 2017 with his last position as the Commissioner for Alabama Department of Rehabilitation. I always knew that education and child growth and development was a profession that I wanted to pursue in college. Serving and advocating for all students is one of my deepest passions.

During my beginning college years, I served two years with AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps is a domestic version of the PeaceCorp that was signed into effect under President Bush. While serving in AmeriCorp during the daytime, I attended AUM full time at night. During the two years with AmeriCorp, I taught Peabody language Development to Kindergarten students at Harrison Elementary School and Highland Garden Elementary School.

After serving with Americorps, I began my employment with Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) as a part-time secretary while I completed my bachelor's degree at AUM. In 2000, I began my teaching profession at Highland Gardens School as a Special Education Teacher. I served as Special Education Facilitator/K-3 Case Manager from 2001-2008 at Highland Gardens.

August 2008, I began a new path in education as an Assistant Principal at Georgia Washington Middle School. I then moved on and served as an Assistant Principal in MPS at Blount Elementary School and Lee High School.

In May 2012, I was named Principal of James Wilson Elementary School. I have 2 young boys, Pierce (age 12 attends Pike Road Jr High in 7th Grade) and Preston Bishop (age 9 attends Pike Road Intermediate in 4th Grade).

I also spend some of my free time being a member of the Montgomery Junior League. I became a member in Spring 2012 and began my civic volunteering for the River Region area. Some area agencies that I have served hours with are Montgomery Aids Outreach, Brantwood Children's Home, and other nonprofit agencies.

Again, Welcome to the Wilson Ranger family, where Rangers LEAD!
