MPS Kicks Off School Year with Inaugural Back to School Bash
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Montgomery Public Schools (MPS) is gearing up for a school year like no other with its first-ever Back to School Bash from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre. This free, fun-filled event will feature food, rides, entertainment, hands-on learning activities, and resources for families.
“The Back to School Bash is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with our families and provide them with the resources and information they need,” said Dr. Melvin J. Brown, superintendent of Montgomery Public Schools. “We want everyone to come out, have a good time and get excited about the school year.”
Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) and the City of Montgomery are the event’s corporate sponsors, once again highlighting their dedication to supporting public education in Montgomery.
“Bringing students, parents, and teachers together in a festive atmosphere will create plenty of positive energy to kick off the new school year”, said Robert Burns, Chief Administrative Officer of HMMA. “Hyundai’s support for this event is another example of our organization’s commitment to being involved in the evolution of the educational experience that Dr. Melvin Brown and the Montgomery school board are striving to achieve.”
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will provide food, and families can choose from a variety of food vendors as well. Principals and district officials will be on hand to greet visitors and answer any questions they may have about the school year. A wide range of community organizations will be in attendance to inform families about the services they offer.
