Middle School Athletics Policy:
A student who meets all other AHSAA eligibility requirements and is accepted to Baldwin Arts and Academic Magnet or Floyd Middle Magnet will have a combination sports programs beginning 2018-2019. A combination sports program will allow students from those schools to only participate in sports at Floyd Middle Magnet. A student who meets all other AHSAA eligibility requirements and is accepted to Carr Academic Magnet is eligible to participate in sports at Carr Middle School.
A student at Baldwin Arts and Academics Magnet, Floyd Middle Magnet and Carr Academic Magnet may also “play up” only at one of the three magnet high schools (Loveless Academic Magnet Program (LAMP), Brew Tech or Booker T. Washington (BTW).
However, if a student chooses to “play up”, they have established their eligibility at the school for which they are playing. If the student chooses not to enroll in the school for which they are playing or if the student is not selected to that particular school through the magnet application process, the student will be ineligible to play at their zoned traditional school or another MPS magnet high school for a period of one year from the date of enrollment.
