I am the gifted specialist serving Garrett Elementary along with Dozier Elementary and Pintlala Elementary. This is my thirtieth year teaching gifted students. I received my masters in elementary education from Auburn Montgomery and my certification in gifted education from the University of Alabama. My husband and I have been married forty-five years and we have one daughter and son-in-law and three adorable grandchildren. Currently, the MPS gifted program pulls out gifted students in third through fifth grade for QUEST classes one day a week.

I am Ms. Ja’Kecia Howard, the Speech-Language Pathologist. I am super excited to be a part of the team here at Garrett!
The University of Montevallo is where I received my master’s degree in communication science and disorders in 2022. I received my bachelor’s degree from Auburn University of Montgomery. Although I am a first time school-based SLP, I have 3+ years of providing supervised therapy as a student clinician to children and adults with a wide range of communication and/or swallowing impairments.
